Historical Jewish Victimhood and Supporting Freedom for Palestinians

On July 27th, 2014, Zayn Malik released a tweet supporting the Palestinian people;[1] the same year that the rogue state of Israel was engaged in a small holocaust against them, having murdered more than 2,250 people in Gaza (with 504[2] of them being children). For decades it had been forced to turn into the world largest concentration camp by Israel,[3] who since it's birth has stolen—and continues to steal—Palestinian land;[n. 1] often engaging in mass genocide and ethnic cleansing[4] (all the while using Palestinians as human shields[5] and (sexually) torturing[6] their children to do so). Malik's tweet went viral. This was followed by a bombardment of death threats from many Jews. His tweet was never taken it down, however. Since then, it has been retweeted 333,161 times, loved by 340,201 users and generated 67,000 replies.[7] Perhaps what was so amusing was the reaction from such Jewish extremists and their supporters, who began inserting their own assumptions into why he had tweeted it, in order to reinforce the culture of perpetual victimhood endemic[8] across Jewish society. Some called him a Nazi; which is actually a very common thing to do in Jewish culture to every perceived enemy of the Jews.[9] Rather hypocritically, Jewish culture also dictates that anyone that equates Jewish actions with those of the Nazis is anti-Semitic;[10] but a Jew comparing a non-Jew to Nazis is perfectly acceptable.[9] Other's outlandishly bemoaned "U have fans in #Israel. It broke me that one of my idols wand me to die".[11] A radical Jew also then gave him a death threat, and also told him to go "kill himself".[12] The fallout ended up highlighting how heightened victimhood, anti-free speech, and pro-censorship Jewish society is. The Nazi accusations were particularly interesting.

Jews find the idea of comparing Israelis to Nazis offensive.[n. 2] However, just because they feel offended, does not make the argument wrong. Indeed Israel has and currently does act much like the Nazis did.[13][14] The Israeli government even said they want to instigate a Palestinian "holocaust" by using a Hebrew word only ever reserved for such a massacre; "shoah".[15] Another example is the level of discriminatory laws passed in Israel. There are at least 65 laws in the country that directly discriminate or indirectly discriminate against Palestinians as a whole (including one such law banning them from calling themselves Palestinian; instead Jews have passed laws forcing Palestinians to use the term "Arab" in order to rob them of their national and ethnic identity[n. 3]). According to Adalah, the Legal Center for Arab Minority Rights in Israel, "[t]he discrimination in these laws is either explicit–“discrimination on its face”–or, more often, the laws are worded in a seemingly neutral manner, but have or will likely have a disparate impact on Palestinians in their implementation".[16] Nazi Germany passed 2,000 such similar laws.[17] Additionally, every 46 seconds Israeli Jews post violently hateful content against Arabs on Facebook (in one year alone, 675,000 posts were shared across Israeli society millions of times).[18] Another is a hate speech post by the Israeli government "call[ing] for genocide because it declares that “the entire Palestinian people is the enemy” and justifies its destruction, “including its elderly and its women, its cities and its villages, its property and its infrastructure".[19] More, 79% of Jews in Israel believe Jews should get preferential treatment over Arab citizens of Israel.[20] At least 48% of Israeli Jews say they would support the ethnic cleansing and deportation of Israeli Arabs.[20]

Malik Leaves One Direction & Islamophobia in the One Direction Management Team

A few days after the controversy erupted, Malik's bandmate, Harry Styles, openly insulted Muslims by supporting the Palestinian genocide. He raised an inflatable hammer, emblazoned with an Israeli flag at a concert in Spain[21]—a clear insult to Malik who was present on stage with him. The press however claimed that he allegedly did this to honour the Orthodox Jewish family he had stayed with for 20 months,[22] and that the reason the other three band members had not spoken out against Styles provocation was that they had been groomed into liking Jewish culture.[23] It was perhaps this enforced ethical and political rift that caused Malik to leave the band permanently[n. 7] (although he publicly stated his departure was to show the world the "real me"[24]). It could have also been down to how strictly[n. 8] controlling[25] Cowell was, who's record label Malik was signed to. Artists who sign up to him have their free speech rights curtailed and their social media presence continuously monitored.[n. 9] Another factor may have been Cowell donating $150,000 dollars to Israel's military,[26] which engages in terrorism against Palestinians in tactics which are eerily similar to that of the Gestapo[27] and the Schutzstaffel (SS).[14] When Malik announced his departure, his bandmates—rather than being supportive—reacted angrily.[28] This could have been out of jealousy; as critics often noted how Malik was the most skilled singer out of the five,[n. 10] and even better than it's most popular member at the time (Harry Styles).[29] A year after Malik had left One Direction, the band fell apart,[n. 11] (but copied Malik's career move[n. 12]). During his time with One Direction, none of his band mates ever publicly defended him,[n. 13] from Islamophobic abuse, and even refused to reply back to his calls and texts when he attempted to reach out to them.[n. 14]

Malik with his girlfriend Gigi, who has starred in his most successful single to date, "Pillowtalk".
The controversy barely dented Malik's popularity, (it may have actually helped him). His first album, "Mind of Mine" (2016),[30] reached number one in the UK,[31] US,[32] Canadian,[33] Australian,[34] Italian,[35] New Zealand[36] and Swedish charts.[37][38] It also ranked 2nd in Ireland,[39] 3rd in France[40] and 9th in Denmark.[41] When Styles released his,[42] he'd only managed to muster up five number ones (UK,[43] US,[44] Canada,[45] Austrailia,[46] and Ireland[47]); but only one of his singles actually achieved any sort of success ("Sign of Times"). Malik by comparison achieved considerable success with "Pillowtalk" (starring Gigi Hadid[48]), "I Don't Wanna Live Forever" (featuring Taylor Swift[49]) and "Dusk Till Dawn". His other singles ("Like I Would" and "Still Got Time") also received moderate success. Niall Horan also embarked on a solo career and has fared third amongst Malik and Styles; his solo album "Flicker" (2017)[50] only achieved number one in Ireland,[51] Canada[52] and the US.[53] However, unlike Styles, he has achieved moderate success with a few singles (yet to reach number one in any country) with "This Town", "Slow Hands" and "Too Much to Ask". Amongst Malik's other achievements have been to be the first British artist to simultaneously hold both a number one single in the UK and US, and also beating the entire chart history of One Direction in the race for the top spot of the US Billboard Hot 100.[54][55][56] The success of Malik is all the more incredible when the total amount of followers on Twitter are taken into consideration. Both Styles and Horan have 31.8 million[57] and 38.9 million[58] followers, compared to Malik's smaller 26.7 million.[59][n. 15]
