<small style="border:1px solid; padding:1px 3px; background:#ff0000; color:#FFFFFF; white-space:nowrap">Introduction:—</small> In 2015, the combined total estimate of the Muslim country's military budget stood at $194.7 billion dollars, with the biggest spender amongst the Islamic nations being Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Turkey and Iran. Afghanistan remains one of the lowest funded at some $200 million dollars in 2015 (but propped up to over $11 billion dollars from US financing). Minus the two largest spenders, the Islamic world spent $107.5 billion dollars in 2015, having doubled since 1988 which was at $43 billion dollars. Overall, including the two big spenders, the total budget quadrupled from $56.4 billion dollars from 1988 to $212 billion dollars in 2016 (similar to 1989 USSR).<ref group="n.">The combined total military budget of Europe is $328 billion dollars as comparison (based on 2014 dollars) for 2015. However it should be noted that this includes Russia, and the Muslim countries of Albania and Bosnia. Without these countries, the budget falls to  $261 billion dollars.

However saying this, Pakistan, Indonesia and Egypt are particular under-performers, which ideally should be as high as the UK's ($55.4 billion dollars in 2015), Frances' ($50.9 billion dollars) and Germany's ($39.4 billion dollars). A particular focus on industrialisation is lacking; most of these countries are not information economies, thereby limiting funds.
